Testicular Volume of 4 mL Is Not an Appropriate Marker of Pubertal Onset in a Subset of Boys Born Small for Gestational Age.

This study showed that boys born small for gestational age may enter puberty earlier than indicated by testicular volume alone. Hormonal markers, particularly LH and AMH, identified pubertal onset before clinical enlargement of the testes in many patients, suggesting that biochemical evaluation may improve early detection and monitoring of pubertal development.
