Physiology and Pathology of the Pituitary–Ovarian axis

Goals

Our group intends to gain knowledge about the hormonal changes that occur in the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis from the neonatal period to adolescence, as well as the relationship with the metabolic changes in every stage. This knowledge mainly contributes to the differential diagnosis of puberty disorders in girls and of hyperandrogenic syndromes in adolescents, focusing on aspects related to metabolic complications, specific treatment control and long-term disorder follow-up.

Main projects

  • Proinflammatory and proatherogenic factors in adolescents with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.
  • Early puberty. Diagnosis and Treatment Monitoring.
  • Precocious Puberty: Pre- and post-treatment metabolic profile.
  • Ovarian function and post-chemotherapy bone metabolism.
