La Dra. Fernández se interesa en el sistema de los factores de crecimiento similares a la insulina (IGFs) y su rol en la progresión y malignidad de diversos tipos tumorales. Los aspectos básicos involucrados en estos mecanismos aportan a la búsqueda de nuevas estrategias terapéuticas. Así como también es de interés el modelado de las variantes génicas encontradas en el sistema de los IGFs en niños con desórdenes del crecimiento para mejorar y ampliar el tratamiento convencional al cual están sometidos estos pacientes.

Dr. Fernandez is interested in insulin-like growth factors (IGFs) and their role in tumor progression. The basic aspects involved in these mechanisms can contribute to the search for new therapeutic strategies. It is also of her interest, the modeling of the gene variants in the IGFs system found in children with growth disorders in order to improve and expand the conventional treatment to which these patients are subjected.
